Playkeeper turns an Ubuntu VPS into a Minecraft: Java Edition server host with one command. 0.4.2 is the biggest release so far: modpacks, a free address for your server, backups that don't kick anyone off, and help when something breaks.
What's new
- 01
Plugins, mods and modpacks
Seven server types. Plugins and mods from Modrinth and Hangar, modpacks from Modrinth and CurseForge, and what friends need of each mod.

- 02
A free address
Friends join at yourname.playkeeper.io, with no port and a real certificate.

- 03
Backups that don't kick anyone off
Players stay online while it copies, and each copy is checked.

- 04
Help when it crashes or lags
The Overview explains what went wrong from the log, with the fix one click away.
- 05
Friends and a team
Invite links, co-admins with roles, Discord alerts and a page for each player.
- 06
Worlds and a live map
Bring a world from singleplayer, Aternos, Minehut or Realms, and share a live map.
- 07
It runs itself
Schedules, sleep when nobody plays, and encrypted copies off the server.
- 08
More machines and AI agents
Connect a second VPS, or run your servers from Claude, Cursor or any MCP client.
Install or update
New here? One command on Ubuntu 20.04+, Debian 12+, the RHEL family 9+ or Amazon Linux 2023+:
curl -fsSL https://playkeeper.io/install | sudo sh
Already on 0.3? Your dashboard offers the update. It's signed, your servers keep running, and a failed update rolls back by itself.
Thanks
To everyone who tried the early versions and told me what broke. Questions and ideas go in GitHub Discussions.
