1What each modpack's server needs
Each pack has its own page with the steps, the server files and what goes wrong.
| Loader | Minecraft | Java | Memory | Mods on the server | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| All the Mods 10 8.2 | NeoForge 21.1.251 | 1.21.1 | 21 | 12 GB | 464 |
| Cobblemon Official Modpack 1.8.1 | Fabric 0.19.5 | 1.21.1 | 21 | 4 GB | 32 |
| Cobbleverse 1.7.42 | Fabric 0.18.4 | 1.21.1 | 21 | 6 GB | 136 |
| Better MC v31 | NeoForge 21.1.176 | 1.21.1 | 21 | 6 GB | 268 |
2How much memory a modpack needs
It follows the mods the server runs, not the pack's name. Playkeeper suggests memory for that number of mods, and more when a pack's own settings ask Java for a bigger heap: All the Mods 10 asks for 8 GB, so it gets 12 GB.
Friends add to it. The sizing guide gives a big modpack 12 GB for up to four friends and 24 GB for more, so pick the larger of the two numbers.
3Install any of them in one click
Playkeeper runs your server on a VPS you rent. Install it with one command:
curl -fsSL https://playkeeper.io/install | sudo sh
Then pick New server › A modpack. Each pack shows its loader, Minecraft version, mods and the memory it needs before you create anything.

4Packs Playkeeper can't run yet
- Packs for Minecraft older than 1.21, like RLCraft on 1.12.2, and SkyFactory 5, Prominence II and Better MC's Forge and Fabric editions on 1.20.1.
The modded server guide covers setting up any pack by hand.
Questions
How much RAM does a modded Minecraft server need?
From 4 GB for a pack with a few dozen mods, like the Cobblemon Official Modpack, to 12 GB for a big one, like All the Mods 10. Add more for more friends.
Which Java does a modpack server need?
The one its Minecraft version needs: Java 21 for 1.21, Java 25 for 26.1 and newer. Playkeeper picks it for you.
Do friends need the same modpack?
Yes: the same pack and version as the server. Playkeeper's Share with friends gives them a page with the pack and their launcher's steps.
Where do the numbers come from?
From each pack's own files on Modrinth or CurseForge, and from Playkeeper 0.4.2's install plan for the version shown, which counts what goes on the server.
