Minecraft server templates

The short answer

A template is a server's setup that opens in your own Playkeeper dashboard: the server software and version, the rules and the plugins. Pick one, check what it installs, and create the server. We created and started a server from each template here before listing it.

1Game modes

Each has its own page: what's in it, what to change first, and the same setup by hand.

2Modpacks

Modpack servers have their own pages, with each pack's memory, server files and known issues, and how to set it up in your dashboard.

3What a template holds

  • It holds the server type and Minecraft version, the rules (difficulty, PvP, hardcore, players), plugins or mods from Modrinth and Hangar, a Modrinth modpack, and data packs by address and checksum.
  • It never holds a world, the allowlist, operators, ports, passwords or console commands.
  • It travels as a link. Everything after playkeeper.io/t# is the template, which your browser reads without sending it anywhere.

4How we check each template

Before a template is listed, an agent creates a server from it on a real Playkeeper, starts it and reads its log: it has to reach Done with every plugin enabled and no errors. Each page says when, and with which release.

The checks for this batch caught two problems. Iridium Skyblock needs Vault, which its Modrinth page doesn't list, so the skyblock template brings VaultUnlocked. And Towny ships expecting an economy, so its page starts with the setting that lets players found towns.

5Share your own

In your dashboard, a server's menu has Share as a template. It makes a link like these, with that server's software, rules and plugins, and never its world.

Questions

Are these Minecraft server templates free?

Yes. Playkeeper and its templates are free and open source; you pay only for the VPS they run on.

Does a template include a world?

No. A template sets up a new server. Worlds, allowlists and operators never travel in one.

What happens when a plugin updates?

These templates install the newest version of each plugin that fits the server's Minecraft version. Each page lists the version we started it with, and your dashboard shows the one it will install before you create anything.

Can I use a template without Playkeeper?

Yes. Each template's page has the same setup as a Docker command for the itzg image, which Playkeeper runs servers in too.

Can Bedrock players join?

Not yet. These templates create Minecraft: Java Edition servers.

Your next server is one template away.

Free and open source. Nothing installs until you confirm.
