How to make a Beyond Depth server

Updated 28 Sep 2026 · 3 min read

The short answer

A Beyond Depth server runs Forge 47.4.22 on Minecraft 1.20.1 with Java 17 and needs about 11.5 GB, because the pack asks Java for 8.2 GB. Playkeeper installs 376 of its mods from version 0.4.4. The pack publishes no server files, so 24 mods that only CurseForge's app may download are yours to add by hand.

Beyond Depth updates often: Ver12.8.3 came out on 24 Sep 2026, a few days after the one before it. The server and every player need the same version.

2The 24 mods you add by hand

Their authors let only CurseForge's own app download them. Packs like ATM10 put such mods in server files, where Playkeeper can take them from, but Beyond Depth publishes none. So its plan names each one, with a link to its page:

  • Aggro Fix
  • Aquaculture Delight
  • Blaze Gear
  • Blossom Blade
  • Butcher's Delight
  • Create Recycle Everything
  • Create: Oxidized
  • Enchantment Blacklister
  • Ender Dragon Loot
  • Enhanced Boss Bars
  • Happy Ghast
  • Hero Proof
  • NoCube's Better Blast Furnace
  • NoCube's Better Fletching Table
  • NoCube's Better Grindstone
  • NoCube's Undergarden Delight
  • Plushie Buddies
  • Realm RPG: Dragon Wyrms
  • Realm RPG: Quests & Rewards
  • ServerCore
  • Structory
  • Subtle Effects
  • The New Shutters
  • Villagers Sell Animals

Download each from its CurseForge page, at the version the plan names, and upload them to the server's mods folder on the Files tab before the first start. Players' CurseForge app downloads them with the pack, so the server is the one that needs this.

3Why it needs so much memory

The pack's own settings ask Java for 8.2 GB. Forge and its mods need memory beside that, so Playkeeper suggests 11.5 GB, which gives Java 8.3 GB. On a machine with less, New server says so before anything installs.

It also brings Simple Voice Chat, whose UDP port 24454 Playkeeper opens for the server. Open it in your provider's firewall too, or players won't hear each other.

4With Playkeeper

Playkeeper runs your server on a VPS you rent. Install it with one command:

curl -fsSL https://playkeeper.io/install | sudo sh
  1. Search New server › A modpack

Type Beyond Depth. It comes from CurseForge, with Forge, the 11.5 GB it needs and the 24 mods it can't download.

  2. Create it

Playkeeper downloads 1 GB and checks each file against CurseForge's hash.

  3. Add the 24 mods, then start it

Upload them to mods on the Files tab, then press Start.

New server, starting from a modpack: the most downloaded packs, each with its loader, Minecraft version, mods and the memory it needs.

What we checked: Playkeeper 0.4.4's install plan for Ver12.8.3, on 28 Sep 2026. We haven't started a Beyond Depth server yet, and there's no template for it, because a template can't carry the 24 mods.

Questions

Is there a Beyond Depth server pack?

No. The pack publishes only its client files, so tools that build the server from it can't download the 24 mods only CurseForge's app may fetch.

How much RAM does a Beyond Depth server need?

About 11.5 GB: the pack asks Java for 8.2 GB, and Forge with its mods needs memory beside it.

Is Beyond Depth Forge or Fabric?

Forge. Version Ver12.8.3 runs Forge 47.4.22 on Minecraft 1.20.1, with Java 17.

Do my friends need the 24 mods too?

The CurseForge app downloads them with the pack. Prism Launcher asks players to fetch them from their pages, as you do for the server.

Beyond Depth on your own server.

Free and open source. Playkeeper installs the rest and lists exactly what's left.
