How to make a StoneBlock 4 server (FTB StoneBlock 4)

Updated 28 Sep 2026 · 4 min read

The short answer

A StoneBlock 4 server runs NeoForge 21.1.250 on Minecraft 1.21.1 with Java 21, and needs about 11.5 GB of memory for the 8 GB heap FTB asks for. Playkeeper 0.4.4 installs version 1.22.0 from CurseForge and leaves three mods and a data pack for you to add. FTB's own installer gets all four.

Checked28 Sep 2026, on CurseForge and with Playkeeper 0.4.4's install plan

FTB releases a new version every week or two: 1.20.1 on 1 Sep, 1.21.0 on 9 Sep and 1.22.0 on 22 Sep. Your server and your friends' games must run the same one.

On 28 Sep, a server created from its template on the published 0.4.4 was online 1 minute 44 seconds after Create, downloads included. Its log said Done (1.357s)!, a timer that leaves out loading the mods.

2How much memory StoneBlock 4 needs

FTB's listing recommends 8 GB, with 6 GB as the least, and the pack's CurseForge file asks Java for 8 GB. That's the heap alone. NeoForge and 370 mods take memory outside it, so Playkeeper suggests 11.5 GB, of which Java gets 8.3 GB.

  • The template rounds it up to 12 GB, the memory the 28 Sep server started with.
  • For 5 or more friends, the sizing guide gives a big modpack 24 GB.

3The one-click way

Playkeeper runs your server on a VPS you rent. Install it with one command:

curl -fsSL https://playkeeper.io/install | sudo sh
  1. Open the template below, or search New server › A modpack

Either way it's StoneBlock 4 1.22.0 from CurseForge, with NeoForge, the memory it needs and a step for each file you add.

  2. Create and start it

Playkeeper downloads the pack's 669 MB in 6,211 files, checking each against CurseForge's hash. On the test machine that took a minute, and the start under another.

  3. Add the four files, then restart

The next section says where each one goes.

New server, starting from a modpack: the most downloaded packs, each with its loader, Minecraft version, mods and the memory it needs.

On Playkeeper 0.4.3 or older, the first start stops with invalid dist DEDICATED_SERVER. Status Effect Bars, a mod for players' screens that CurseForge doesn't mark as one, goes on the server, and the pack's default-server.properties switches off Playkeeper's console and allowlist. Update Playkeeper: 0.4.4 leaves the mod off and keeps its own settings.

4The four files you add by hand

StoneBlock 4 has no server files on CurseForge to take these from, so Playkeeper lists a step for each, with its page:

  • BetterBlockZ, ServerCore and Create: Shimmer. Their authors allow downloads only through the CurseForge app. Download each jar from its page and upload it to mods on the Files tab.
  • Hostile Neural Networks: Extra Data Models, ExtraDataModels-1.21-4.4.2.zip, is a data pack, not a mod. Upload it to datapacks, the folder beside mods that holds the pack's other data packs. FTB's own installer puts it there.

The server starts without them, as the 28 Sep one did. Add them before friends join, then restart it.

5By hand, with FTB's installer

FTB publishes StoneBlock 4's server on its own site rather than CurseForge, as an installer. It downloads the pack from FTB's list, which has the three mods and the data pack, and leaves Status Effect Bars off. The itzg Docker image, which Playkeeper runs servers in too, runs that installer for you:

# StoneBlock 4 1.22.0 on Java 21: 11.5 GB in all, 8.3 GB of it Java's heap
docker run -d --name stoneblock-4 -p 25565:25565 \
  --memory 11776M --memory-swap 11776M \
  -e EULA=TRUE -e MEMORY=8532M -e USE_AIKAR_FLAGS=TRUE \
  -e TYPE=FTBA -e FTB_MODPACK_ID=130 -e FTB_MODPACK_VERSION_ID=100515 \
  -v stoneblock-4-data:/data itzg/minecraft-server:java21
  • 130 is the pack in FTB's list, and 100515 its version 1.22.0. Without FTB_MODPACK_VERSION_ID the image takes FTB's newest version, and a new number installs that version over the old one.
  • It ran on 28 Sep: FTB's installer put NeoForge 21.1.250 and the pack in place, restricted mods included, and the server said Done about 75 seconds after its container started.
  • Open TCP 25565 in your provider's firewall.

6The settings StoneBlock 4 brings

The pack's default-server.properties sets these on a new server, and Playkeeper 0.4.4 keeps them:

SettingValueWhat it means
allow-flighttrueFlying with mod items doesn't get players kicked.
allow-netherfalseNobody can travel to the Nether.
enable-command-blocktrueCommand blocks run.
spawn-protection512Only operators can change blocks within 512 blocks of the world's spawn.

It also sets bug-report-link, which Playkeeper doesn't take from packs. New server says so before you create the server.

7Friends play the same version

Each friend installs FTB StoneBlock 4 1.22.0 in the FTB App, the CurseForge app or Prism Launcher, then joins your server's address.

Share with friends, on the server's Mods tab, makes them a page with the pack's version and their launcher's steps.

The page friends open: the server's versions, the pack file to download and their launcher's steps.

Questions

How much RAM does a StoneBlock 4 server need?

About 11.5 GB for a few friends: FTB asks Java for 8 GB, and NeoForge with 370 mods needs memory beside it. Give 5 or more friends 24 GB.

Is StoneBlock 4 Forge or NeoForge?

NeoForge. Version 1.22.0 runs NeoForge 21.1.250 on Minecraft 1.21.1.

Where are the StoneBlock 4 server files?

Not on CurseForge. FTB offers them on its own site as an installer, which also downloads the three mods only the CurseForge app may.

Why does my StoneBlock 4 server stop with "invalid dist DEDICATED_SERVER"?

Status Effect Bars, a mod for players' screens, is on it. Delete statuseffectbars-1.21.1-NeoForge-1.0.2.jar from mods, or update to Playkeeper 0.4.4, which leaves it off.

Which files do I add to a StoneBlock 4 server by hand?

BetterBlockZ, ServerCore and Create: Shimmer go in mods, and the Extra Data Models zip in datapacks. FTB's installer adds all four itself.
