How to make an ATM10 To the Sky server

Updated 28 Sep 2026 · 4 min read

The short answer

An ATM10 To the Sky server runs NeoForge 21.1.250 on Minecraft 1.21.1 with Java 21, puts each player on an island in the void through Skyblock Builder, and needs about 11 GB of memory for the 8 GB heap the pack asks for. Use ATM's server files, or let Playkeeper install version 2.0.6 from CurseForge.

ATM's team ships fixes in bursts: 2.0.3 on 9 Sep, 2.0.4 on 11 Sep, then 2.0.5 and 2.0.6 on 21 Sep. Every player needs the server's version.

On 28 Sep, a server created from its template on the published 0.4.4 was online 1 minute 42 seconds after Create, with the 533 MB download. Its log said Done (5.906s)!, a timer that starts after the mods have loaded.

2The world is an island in the void

To the Sky is All the Mods 10's machines and magic on a skyblock start. The world comes from Skyblock Builder, one of its 316 mods, through the world type server.properties names: level-type=skyblockbuilder:skyblock. ATM's start script writes that line on a new server.

  • A Playkeeper server gets it too. On the 28 Sep server, server.properties named Skyblock Builder's world type, the pack's seven starting islands loaded, like Simple Life and Witch Cottage, and the area around spawn was ready in 26 ms.
  • Settings says Normal. Playkeeper's world type setting lists only Minecraft's own four, so it shows Normal for this world. The file on the Files tab is what the server uses.

3How much memory ATM10 To the Sky needs

The pack's CurseForge file asks Java for 8 GB. NeoForge and 316 mods take memory outside the heap, so Playkeeper suggests 11 GB, of which Java gets 8.1 GB, and the template rounds it up to 12 GB.

  • ATM's server files set no heap. Their user_jvm_args.txt has -Xmx4G commented out, so Java takes a quarter of the machine's memory. In an 11 GB container that was 2.75 GB, and the server still started with nobody on.
  • For 5 or more friends, the sizing guide gives a big modpack 24 GB.

4The one-click way

Playkeeper runs your server on a VPS you rent. Install it with one command:

curl -fsSL https://playkeeper.io/install | sudo sh
  1. Open the template below, or search New server › A modpack

Either way it's ATM10 To the Sky 2.0.6 from CurseForge, with NeoForge and the memory it needs.

  2. Create and start it

Playkeeper downloads the pack's 533 MB, checking each file against CurseForge's hash. The server gets the 316 mods ATM's server files have, and nothing is left to add.

  3. Let players fly

Set allow-flight=true in server.properties on the Files tab, as ATM's script does, then restart.

New server, starting from a modpack: the most downloaded packs, each with its loader, Minecraft version, mods and the memory it needs.

5By hand, with ATM's server files

Download ATM10SKY-2.0.6-server.zip (477 MB, 316 mods) from the pack's files on CurseForge. Its startserver.sh installs NeoForge 21.1.250 the first time it runs.

# Java 21, then the server files in ./atm10sky
sudo apt install -y openjdk-21-jre-headless unzip
unzip ATM10SKY-2.0.6-server.zip -d atm10sky && cd atm10sky
echo "eula=true" > eula.txt
sed -i 's/^# -Xmx4G$/-Xmx8G/' user_jvm_args.txt # the heap the pack asks for
ATM10_RESTART=false sh startserver.sh # installs NeoForge, then starts
  • Set the heap with sed, not echo >>: the file has no line break at its end, so an added line joins the comment above it and does nothing.
  • It ran on 28 Sep in a Java 21 container: the script installed NeoForge, wrote server.properties, and the server said Done with its 8 GB heap.
  • Restarts: the script starts the server again 10 seconds after it stops, unless ATM10_RESTART is false. ATM10_JAVA picks another Java, and anything older than 21 stops with "Minecraft 1.21 requires Java 21".
  • Open TCP 25565 in your provider's firewall.

6What ATM's script writes to server.properties

On a new server it writes four lines. A Playkeeper server has the same world type, and Playkeeper's own values for the rest:

SettingATM's scriptOn Playkeeper
level-typeskyblockbuilder:skyblockThe same
allow-flighttruefalse: jetpacks and other flying items can get players kicked, so set it
max-tick-time18000060000: one tick longer than a minute stops the server
motdAll the Mods 10 To the SkyThe server's own, from its Settings

7Friends play the same version

Each friend installs All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.6 in the CurseForge app or Prism Launcher, then joins your server's address.

Share with friends, on the server's Mods tab, makes them a page with the pack's version and their launcher's steps.

The page friends open: the server's versions, the pack file to download and their launcher's steps.

Questions

How much RAM does an ATM10 To the Sky server need?

About 11 GB for a few friends: the pack asks Java for 8 GB, and NeoForge with 316 mods needs memory beside it. Give 5 or more friends 24 GB.

Does ATM10 To the Sky need a special world type?

Yes: level-type=skyblockbuilder:skyblock in server.properties. ATM's start script writes it, and a server Playkeeper creates from the pack gets it too.

Where are the ATM10 To the Sky server files?

On the pack's CurseForge page, under its files: ATM10SKY-2.0.6-server.zip, 477 MB. Playkeeper doesn't need them from you.

Should I host ATM10 or ATM10 To the Sky?

The one your friends play. ATM10 starts in a normal world with 464 mods; To the Sky starts on an island in the void with 316. Both run NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.1.

Which Java does an ATM10 To the Sky server need?

Java 21. ATM's start script stops on anything older, and Playkeeper runs the server on Java 21 for you.
