Version 1.7.42 bundles Cobblemon 1.7.3, not the 1.8.1 of the official Cobblemon pack, so players join with Cobbleverse itself.
2There's no server pack
Cobbleverse publishes one file, a 239 MB .mrpack for players, and its page sends server owners to paid hosts. That file still has everything a server needs:
- The 136 mods the server runs. All but one download from Modrinth, 390 MB in all; the last comes inside the pack.
- 1,285 files only players use, the music, resource packs and shaders that make it big. An install tool leaves them off the server.
3The one-click way
Playkeeper runs your server on a VPS you rent. Install it with one command:
curl -fsSL https://playkeeper.io/install | sudo sh
Search New server › A modpack
It's Cobbleverse 1.7.42. Your dashboard shows what it installs before anything happens.
Create and start it
Playkeeper downloads the 136 mods, checks each against Modrinth's hash and leaves the players' files out.
Send friends the pack
Share with friends on the Mods tab gives them the pack and their launcher's steps.

4By hand, from the .mrpack
Two free tools read the pack's list and build the server from it: the itzg Docker image, which Playkeeper runs servers in too, and mrpack-install.
# Cobbleverse 1.7.42 on Java 21: 6 GB in all, 4.5 GB of it Java's heap
docker run -d --name cobbleverse -p 25565:25565 \
--memory 6G --memory-swap 6G \
-e EULA=TRUE -e MEMORY=4560M -e USE_AIKAR_FLAGS=TRUE \
-e TYPE=MODRINTH -e MODRINTH_MODPACK=cobbleverse -e MODRINTH_VERSION=1.7.42 \
-v cobbleverse-data:/data itzg/minecraft-server:java21
# Writes the server, Fabric and the mods into ./cobbleverse mrpack-install cobbleverse 1.7.42 --server-dir cobbleverse # Then start it with Java 21 and accept the EULA in eula.txt
Open TCP 25565 in your provider's firewall, and give it 6 GB or more.
5The client mods it marks for servers
Cobbleverse 1.7.42 marks all its mods as needed on the server, including 22 that only change what players see or hear. We read each one's own files:
- 15 say they're client-only, like Sodium, Iris, Mod Menu, Zoomify and Continuity. Fabric doesn't load them on a server, so they only take disk space.
- 7 say they run on both sides, like Xaero's Minimap and World Map and FancyMenu, and load on the server as their authors intend.
They don't stop the server. To skip downloading the 15, list them in the itzg image's MODRINTH_EXCLUDE_FILES.
6Private and public servers
From the pack's rules on Modrinth, checked 28 Sep 2026:
- Friends and family: free to host.
- Public: every mod's licence applies, and some don't allow commercial use.
- A shop with ranks, perks or paid items rules out Cobbleverse's own structures, trainers and data packs.
- The name: not "COBBLEVERSE Server", but "COBBLEVERSE Compatible" is fine.
7Friends join with the same version
Players install Cobbleverse 1.7.42 in the Modrinth App, the CurseForge app or Prism Launcher, then join your server's address.
In Playkeeper, Share with friends on the Mods tab makes a page with the pack and their launcher's steps.

Questions
How much RAM does a Cobbleverse server need?
About 6 GB, what Playkeeper suggests for its 136 mods, or 8 GB for up to four friends, what the sizing guide gives a modpack.
Is there a Cobbleverse server pack?
No. Cobbleverse publishes only its .mrpack, and install tools build the server from it. Playkeeper does it in one click.
Can friends join with the official Cobblemon pack?
No. Cobbleverse 1.7.42 bundles Cobblemon 1.7.3 and its own mods, so players need Cobbleverse, the same version as the server.
Is Cobbleverse Fabric or Forge?
Fabric: Fabric Loader 0.18.4 on Minecraft 1.21.1.
Can I run a public Cobbleverse server?
Yes, if it follows every mod's licence and Cobbleverse's rules: no shop with its custom content, and no calling it a COBBLEVERSE Server.
